Petrological Investigations
Investigations over the past 40 years, on a routine and project basis, of rock, mineral and ore suites from throughout Australia, and overseas has involved over 9,500 reports for greater than 500 exploration and mining companies, geological survey organisations and metallurgists. Our petrological and mineragraphic studies have included samples from most types of geological provinces and mineral occurrences, numerous non-metallic commodities, also application to process mineralogy, geological mapping, ore genesis and construction materials.
Reporting involves basic descriptive information, also interpretations of mineral assemblages, alteration, genesis with photomicrographs, applicable to the field problems presented to us. The integration of geological, geochemical and geophysical data are encouraged, to maximise the benefits of our summary comments and conclusions.
Section Preparation
The exceptional accumulated experience of our technicians, combined with the the latest lapidary equipment and advanced technology in impregnating, mounting and polishing enables the production of thin, polished and polished thin sections regarded as the finest available. Contract section preparation (without petrological reporting) is an important part of our business and for 40 years we have provided this service to Mining, Petroleum and Exploration Companies, Government agencies (CSIRO), Geological Surveys, Universities and other research organisations.
Chemical, XRD, Microprobe Analysis
Geochemical analyses, XRD, SEM and/or electron microprobe investigations which may be integrated with our optical microscopy, or separately, are routinely arranged in Adelaide, mostly with AMDEL, and the University of Adelaide Centre for Electron Microscopy.
